James, Earl of Malmesbury has been our Patron since the scheme started in 2004.

Dr. Darmady became our Patron in 2007.

Our Trustees

Maggie Bates - Chair

Maggie is a retired teacher /Community manager working in West Berkshire and Hampshire. Married with three children, Maggie has lived and worked in the Newbury area for over 40 years and a member of the Steering Committee which established Home-Start Clere.

Patricia Fox-Williamson - Treasurer

Patricia is a qualified ACCA accountant and has many years experience of finance in the business world. Since having her three children she has become involved in voluntary work, mainly on the accounts front, for various local charities. Patricia has recently set up her own accountancy practice with a view to specializing in the field of charity accounting.

Janette Hewitt – Vice Chair

Janette has spent over 30 years in the IT and telecoms industries, mainly in the area of marketing and technical support, where she has held various senior management positions. She is a Parish Councillor in Baughurst, Secretary of the Heath End Village Hall Committee and a volunteer adviser at Tadley Citizen’s Advice Bureau. She has been a Home-Start volunteer since completing her training in January 2006.

Carolyn Anderson – Company Secretary

Carolyn worked as a Speech Therapist for more than 20 years specialising in children and adults with learning difficulties. She moved into general management in the NHS, holding posts in Quality Assurance, Hospital Management and Head of Risk Management in both Community and Mental Health Trusts in the Farnham and Guildford area. Now fully retired she became a volunteer for Home-Start two years ago and more recently a Trustee. Carolyn is married with 2 grownup daughters and 3 young grandchildren.

Jo Attridge - Trustee

Jo has spent her working life in Health Service and Education administration. During the last ten years she has managed departments at Basingstoke College, Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College and has recently retired from the Health Service. Jo was a secondary school governor for eight years, chairing one of the major committees. Jo has many years experience of fund-raising, and is also a Home-start volunteer.

Liz Narracott - Trustee

Liz is a registered nurse and midwife. She has worked with children and their parents/carers of all ages for 18 years within the child health directorate of Basingstoke Hospital and headed up the School Nurse Service for 6 years until retirement in 2003. Liz joined Home-Start 2 years ago as a volunteer and soon after became a Trustee. She is the Safeguarding Children lead for the Scheme. Liz has also served as a school governor of a local infant school and has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Michael Whitty - Trustee

Michael is a qualified teacher who has worked with students in the 11 – 19 age range for over 30 years. He was head teacher of a Basingstoke secondary school between 1995 and 2005, and served for six years as a governor of Basingstoke College of Technology. Between 2006 and 2009 he studied for an additional degree at the University of Southampton. He is a parent and grandparent.

Ian Nicholson - Trustee

Ian and his wife moved to Bramley from Maidstone in 2003. After 30 years personnel experience in a paper mill and an agri-food business, he held positions in the charity sector. He ran the unique Maidstone Community Support Centre (a base for 30 charities including Home-Start) and, finally, he was the Dysphasia Support Organiser for The Stroke Association in Basingstoke and Alton. Now retired, Ian is Secretary of the Basingstoke Male Voice Choir.
