About Us
Home-Start North-West Hampshire, (originally called Home-Start Clere), was set up in 2004 as an independent charity with funding from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council from the regeneration fund for Bishops Green where the charity was initially based. Since then the charity has almost trebled in size, and relocated to Basingstoke in November 2007. In April 2009, we moved to our current office, which we share with a number of other family support agencies. In March 2006, the Scheme became a charitable company limited by guarantee.
Home-Start North-West Hampshire is well established in Basingstoke and recognised as offering a valuable service supporting local families within the community. It is led by a group of Trustees, assisted by a multi-disciplinary Management Committee made up of local professionals and volunteers with relevant experience and skills with representatives from statutory agencies, business and the voluntary sector.
We have an active fund raising group which has generated additional funding from a variety of sources including charitable trusts, housing associations, fund raising events and many kind donations from local community groups and individuals. An ongoing programme is in place to secure the funds needed to maintain services.
The day to day running of the Scheme is the responsibility of the Scheme’s Senior Co-ordinator along with 3 part time staff. Volunteers, who provide the core service to families, receive initial and on-going training and regular support, guidance and supervision. All paid and volunteer staff including Trustees and Management Committee members undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
Home-Start North-West Hampshire is supporting over 100 families each year through the Home Visiting Service and Group Support.
